Nova Scotia Titles Protection Update

The Canadian Massage and Manual Osteopathic Therapists Association (CMMOTA) has announced that in Nova Scotia their association has been added to the Massage Therapist Titles Protection Regulations as a Prescribed Association under Section 3 of the regulation - https://novascotia.ca/just/regulations/regs/mttitlesprotection.htm This change is now in legal effect.

This means that effective immediately, Massage Therapist members residing or working in Nova Scotia and registered with CMMOTA may now legally use any of the titles which are protected under the Massage Therapist Titles Protection Act. This comes after nearly two years of advocacy efforts by the association to be included in the regulations, after they were left off the first set of regulations. In a Dec 13 LinkedIn social media post CMMOTA publicly thanked “the Hon. Michelle Thompson, Minister of Health and Wellness and her department for making the changes necessary to recognize CMMOTA as a Prescribed Association.”

This is excellent news for the massage therapists of Nova Scotia, as this now gives therapists a fourth option for recognized association membership within the province.
